Recently, Microsoft has announced that the Windows 10 update support cycle has been extended to 30 months for enterprises and education. Now, you can read this post to learn the details.
Windows 10 Update Support Cycle Is Extended
Windows 10 was launched in 2015. With its release, Microsoft has switched to the model which is called “Windows as a Service”. It gives a promise that the more frequent feature updates will replace the slower major releases seen in years past.
However, this requirement becomes more and more apparent that the twice per year update rhythm has made the Microsoft IT admins feel uncomfortable. You can see that when a new update is finished, they need to prepare for the next one again and immediately.
Now, Microsoft announces that it will give businesses a break, and this is a notable promise that the support lift cycle for the current and future Windows 10 updates is extended.
From 6 Sep, 2018, all of the currently supported feature updates for Windows 10 Enterprise and Education editions is supported for 30 months since the date they were released.
This action can give the administrators some added breathing space and they can make sure that any problems are worked out of their systems before the next supported update is coming.
From now on, the things will become a little more complicated comparatively. Promised by Microsoft, all of the future updates with the targeted release for the month of September can obtain a 30 months support.
However, the targeted for March releases will get the 18 months update support since the release day.

Optimize APP Compatibility and Deployment
Except for the extended support cycle for Enterprises and Educations, administrators also obtain a couple of new tool which can be used to assist app compatibility.
The first tool is called “Desktop Analytics”. In detail, it aims to give the organizations a deeper understanding on their update readiness based on the application queues they run.
The following is from the Microsoft:
Today, we’re announcing that Windows Analytics is being expanded to Desktop Analytics—a new cloud-based service integrated with ConfigMgr and designed to create an inventory of apps running in the organization, assess app compatibility with the latest feature updates of Windows 10 and Office 365 ProPlus, and create pilot groups that represent the entire application and driver estate across a minimal set of devices.
Microsoft also supplies another feature which is named as “Desktop App Assure”. With this feature, you can quickly locate any App compatibility issues on Windows 10.
For example, if you face issues with a certain App following Windows 10 or Office 365 ProPlus update, this tool can be used to submit a ticket via FastTrack. After that, the Microsoft engineer can work for you until the issue is solved.
This “Desktop App Assure” is going to launch in preview in North America on October 1. And its service is expected available worldwide by February 1, 2019.
